The eastern end of Toronto known as Scarborough has a population of over 600,000. It is bounded by Lake Ontario to the south, Steeles Ave in the north, Victoria Park in the west and the Rouge River in the east.  This eastern area of Toronto offers all the amenities of city life minus the hassles that comes with  urban congestion.  

Public transit is plentiful and is expanding!  A new light rail system was recently funded for construction starting in 2009 and will run along Sheppard Ave, from the Don Mills station to Meadowvale Rd in the east. The city core is always a short ride away with the use of the highways 401 and 404 , running  east to west and north to south respectively.  Not a fan of the car?  No problem, with the public transit system anything is just a short ride away. The GO Transit runs from the east end along the lake allowing easy, comfortable access to downtown.  Another Go  line also comes in from the north.  In addition the subway system runs out to Kennedy Station and with a change onto the Light Rail Transit (LRT) to the Scarborough Town Centre. 

If you enjoy the outdoors the east GTA offers leisurely strolls along the lake front at the Scarborough Bluffs or Rouge beach. The Rouge River Valley in the east houses Canada's largest urban park.  A great place to hike and enjoy nature!

The east end is also home to the Metro Toronto Zoo. With its many indoor and outdoor pavilions, it makes for a great family outing at any time of year.  Where else can you travel the world seeing all of nature's wildlife for a few dollars?

Ethnic diversity is plentiful in this part of Toronto. Foods and cultures of the world are everywhere to be experienced.   No matter what your background you can be assured of finding someone to chat with in your native tongue.  The wide variety of homes and new condos allow any person to find their perfect place to call home in the east end.
